Just called Comcast and requested that my TV be dropped from my account, but keep my internet running. With this move, my internet costs would go up, because I would no longer be on a dual service plan. So the net savings was going to be only $3/month. But he did say that he could reduce my monthly bill by $15 a month for the next 6 months, and $10 a month for the 6 months after that. No reason for the discount, outside of me saying I need to reduce costs. I get to keep basic cable in this deal. One theory is that this discount is equivalent to the cost of sending a tech out to disconnect the TV portion. Although you would think they would be able to do this from the office. At any rate, I can now easily rationalize starting up a Netflix account… at least for the next year.
